Precautions for titanium metal welding operations.
(1) During welding, the angle between the welding wire and the workpiece should be kept as small as possible, with minimal lateral movement.
(2) Arc initiation and termination quality are important. Ensure the quality of both starting and stopping the arc. When terminating the arc, fill the crater, and in multi-pass welding, stagger the interpass joints.
(3) Unless there are specific requirements, each weld seam should be completed in one continuous pass.
(4) If tungsten inclusion occurs accidentally during welding, welding operations should be stopped.
(5) To reduce welding distortion, perform tack welding between joint bevels before welding.
(6) Welding of titanium pipes should be stopped if any of the following conditions occur in the welding environment without protective measures: wind speed ≥ 2m/s, relative humidity > 90%, rain or snow,
temperature below 0°C.
(7) The repair process for weld seams should be the same as the original welding process. The number of repairs at the same location should not exceed two times.
